Broken appliance
Occasionally, orthodontic appliances can break. These breakdowns are usually of no serious consequence and rarely require immediate assistance from your orthodontist. Contact us as soon as you notice the problem, and we’ll schedule an appointment to correct the situation. Expansion devices
Detached and/or mobile expansion unit
If you find that the appliance has become detached or broken during activation, stop turning immediately and contact us to schedule a visit to the clinic as soon as possible.
Expansion device that hurts
You can apply wax to the appliance at the site of your injury. If you are unable to relieve the injury, please contact us to schedule a clinic visit.
Removable expansion device no longer doing the job
If you are unable to insert the appliance correctly, contact us to schedule a clinic visit. If you activate the expansion screw, stop doing so until the situation is corrected.
Loss of appliance
It is very important to contact us to schedule a visit to the clinic for a new appliance to maintain the result obtained. Fees may apply for appliance replacement.
Carriere motion appliance
Broken shell/loss of shell
It is important to stop wearing elastics when you break or lose your shell. Please contact us to schedule a visit to the clinic so we can make you a new shell.
Elastic button or carriere appliance fell off
If the button or Carriere is no longer in the mouth, please keep it and bring it back to the clinic for reattachment. Please contact us to schedule a visit to the clinic to reattach it as soon as possible.
Forsus
It’s important to always tell the secretaries when you call for an emergency that you have Forsus springs, so that they can give you the time you need to get your problem sorted out.
Debonded band
If the case or ring is no longer in your mouth, please keep it and bring it back to the clinic for re-gluing. If the loose item is still in your mouth and hurts you, you can stabilize it with wax. Please contact us to schedule a visit to the clinic to reattach it as soon as possible.
Spring/piston separating
Please reinstall them as demonstrated by your dental hygienist when the appliance was placed in your mouth. If you are unable to do so, please contact us to schedule a clinic visit so that a member of our team can reinstall them for you.
INVISALIGN
Broken shell/loss of shell
If you were starting this shell, please put back the previous one and contact us so that we can order the lost or broken shell. If you were in the last few days of wearing the shell, you can put on the next one. Thereafter, make your shell changes according to the dates originally planned, so you’ll be wearing this shell for a few extra days. If you’re in any doubt, don’t hesitate to contact us for advice.
Lost or broken Invisalign bracket
If you lose or break an Invisalign bracket, it is important to replace it for the proper functioning of your shells. Continue to wear your shells despite the loss or breakage of your bracket, and contact us to schedule a visit to the clinic.
