Dento-orthopedic appliances
Carriere motion appliance
The Career appliance corrects anterior-posterior misalignment between the jaws as the patient grows. This appliance can be used before braces are inserted, or at the start of treatment with Invisalign shells, reducing the time spent wearing braces. To achieve the desired correction, simply place elastics as prescribed by your orthodontist.
Orthopedic spring (Forsus)
One of the most frequently encountered malocclusions in our office is mandibular retrognathia, i.e. a set-back position of the lower jaw in relation to the upper jaw. Orthopedic springs help promote growth of the lower jaw during adolescence, thus avoiding the need for jaw surgery in adulthood. They are usually fitted for six to nine months.
Face mask
The face mask is a device for stimulating growth of the upper jaw in children. It is used in conjunction with the palatal expander and is fitted with elastic bands. For optimum results, it should be worn for a minimum of 14 hours a day. The face mask can reduce the risk of maxillofacial surgery in adulthood.
